چکیده
In order to improve the sensitivity of proteomic analysis, our group has developed a chicken antibody based column that has successfully depleted high abundance proteins (HAPs) from human plasma prior to mass spectrometry analysis. The use of chicken as a host for polyclonal antibodies production conveys many advantages, including but not limited to, the capabilities of producing large quantities of IgY antibodies with minimal antigen quantities and enhanced immunogenicity exhibited by their immune systems against foreign immunogens. In this study, we explored the ability to use an anti-human IgY affinity column with a variety of plasma samples derived from different animals and demonstrate this column’s ability to deplete the two most common HAPs (albumin and immunoglobulins) reproducibly in phylogenetically related species. Hence, our study highly recommends that IgY-based immune depletion technologies could be used to capture targeted proteins among phylogenetically related species without having to produce separate columns for each clade. *Corresponding author: Mark S. Aqueous Humor and Serum Concentrations of Soluble MICA and MICB in Glaucoma Patients
Background: Immune reactions have been reported to be involved in the destruction of retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) in glaucoma. Objective: To investigate the role of major histocompatibility complex class I-related chain A and B (MICA and MICB) molecules in the pathogenesis of glaucoma. Methods: Aqueous humor and serum samples from 15 glaucoma patients and 45 patients with cataract, undergoing ...
متن کاملStable Down-Regulation of HLA Class-I by Serum Starvation in Human PBMCs
Background: The human leukocyte antigen (HLA) matching between organ donor and recipient is an acceptable strategy in clinical transplantation since 1964. However, in bone marrow transplantation, finding matched donors is often problematic. Thus new method for down regulation of HLA can be an alternative strategy to solve this problem. Objective: To examine the effect of serum starvation on HLA...
متن کاملComparing Serum Levels of Th17 and Treg Cytokines in Women with Unexplained Recurrent Spontaneous Abortion and Fertile Women
Background: Increased evidences have shown that unexplained recurrent spontaneous abortion (URSA) is associated with inflammatory responses and breakage of immunological autotolerance. Therefore, the balance between Th17 and Treg cells may elucidate the pathophysiology of URSA. Objective: To investigate the serum concentration of regulatory and inflammatory cytokines associated with Treg and Th...

Background: Schizophrenia is a disorder of the executive function of both sensory and central nervous system. Recent studies suggest that immune mechanisms play a role in the pathophysiology of this disease. The variations in cytokine concentrations have been associated with psychopathology and treatment of schizophrenia. Objective: To investigate the changes in serum concentrations of TNF- α, ...

Background: Endometriosis is a chronic inflammatory disease with the growth of endometrial cells out of uterus and in the peritoneal cavity. T cell subsets participate in the establishment and progress of the disease by producing different cytokines. Objective: To investigate a group of cytokines related to Th1/Th2/Th17/Treg subsets within both peripheral blood...
